N95 respirators

It's important to note that N95 respirators are different from surgical masks. N95 respirators are designed to provide respiratory protection the wearer. They require a tight, sealed fit to be effective.  These products re NIOSH-approved N95 respirators and they are designed to filter at least 95% of airborne particles for the wearer.

 Surgical Face Mask

It's important to note that surgical masks are very different from N95 respirators. Surgical masks are designed to provide fluid resistance and air filtration to the wearer. Surgical masks are usually rated by ASTM standards. ASTM levels are based on bacterial filtration efficiency, differential pressure, sub-micron particulate filtration efficiency, resistance to penetration by synthetic blood, and flammability. Most surgical masks will have an ASTM 1, ASTM 2, or ASTM 3 rating. While these provide some protection for the wearer and patient, they do not provide the same protection of a properly fitted N95 respirator.

Surface Disinfectant Wipes

Surface disinfectant wipes are disposable towelettes pre-saturated with disinfectants.  They are easy to use and most wipes come in plastic canisters that do a surprisingly good job of keeping the towelettes moist.  They usually come in standard sizes of 6”x6”, 7”x15” with 60-200 disinfectant wipes per canister. Many products are effective killing a wide range of microorganisms with kill times under 5 minutes and in some cases 1 minute.

Surface Disinfectant Cleaners

Surface disinfectant cleaners are disinfectants packaged in spray bottles, refill bottles, or pop top bottles.  The larger refill bottles are more cost effective and reduce used bottles going into the garbage. Like surface disinfectant wipes, many products are effective killing a wide range of microorganisms with kill times under 5 minutes and in some cases 1 minute.

Hand Sanitizers

Hand sanitizers are very convenient to carry a basic disinfectant with you or to store in your vehicle. They come in a wide variety of sizes, bottles, scents, and formulations.  Washing your hands for at least 20 seconds is always preferred over hand wipes and hand gels.

Eye Protection

Eye protection is widely used in medical and laboratory situations to protect the eyes and to prevent harmful fluids getting into the eyes.
